Root Glacier Hike

We did our 2nd glacier hike of the summer at Wrangall St Elias Nat Park. The 2 mile trail out to the glacier begins just at the far edge of the Kennicott mining town.
Looking back:
A fun stream crossing:
We paused to eat lunch at the edge of the glacier and put on our boot tractions.
Joey "testing the waters" to make sure we were fine without full crampons:
"Come on family! It's great up here!!"
Little ducklings all in a line:
This hike was so different than when we were walking on the glacier in Valdez (as part of our kayaking trip)...that was ice covered with rock & dirt, but this was walking on straight ice the majority of the time!!! Such an awe-inspiring sensation!!! And the fact that we were out there on our own w/o a guide, added to the thrill!
You never knew what was going to be revealed over the next ridge!
"Oh Lord our Lord how Majestic is Your Name in all the Earth!!"

Hearts in Nature:
Smiling in awe of God's fantastic Creation:
