Seward: City of Murals

Sarah Palin declared this major port town (for cruise ships, the state ferry, fishing charters, whale-watching & glacier cruises, etc) "the mural capital of Alaska". One mural is painted per year on a designated date and is completed within that day. It's the "Mural In A Day" program, with a different artist and sponsors each year.

Coastal Tides

We took a day trip from my cousins out to Captain Cook State Rec Area, and bought along one of the second cousins for Jonas.
The kids had a blast climbing on the massive rocks!
Alaska has some of the fastest moving tides on the planet! Below are 2 photos taken from the same spot (high on a bluff looking down) just a couple hours apart:
(To gain perspective, look for the 2 boys in the picture)
The tide came so fast, the kids had to wade through the cold water (which they thought was a great adventure)!

Buerge Waffles!

A Buerge tradition (Anissa's Grandpa's recipe)!

Buerge Time!

We had an awesome visit with Anissa's cousin's family in Soldotna....
Lots of second cousins around!
Her Uncle Jim (her dad's last living brother) came to visit while we were there....special times indeed!
4 generations of Buerges:
Technology bridges the generation gap:
Reconnecting with family has been the BEST part of this trip! None of the beauty we have seen in Alaska compares to the beauty of being in relationship!

We couldn't get Joey & Jordan to stop talking! What a blessed connection they formed!
The kids enjoyed canoeing in the pond....
....riding the 4 wheelers....
...playing...
...interacting with the animals...
Look at the size of those cabbages!!!
