Life on the road
In addition to praying, praising and reading scripture, you might be wondering how we pass the many hrs on the road. So far we've listened to "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" by CS Lewis (audio book) then watched the movie on our portable DVD player in the tent. Right now we are listening to "The Giver" by Lois Lowry (the book where we got the name Jonas from, a 4th grade Caldecott winner). The nice thing about audio books is you don't get car sick reading (especially on all these curvy mountain roads) and you don't have to look down and miss any of the breathtaking scenery! :) Jonas watches movies, plays with his tech-deck skateboards and the Cramer he got for his bday (thanks to all his buddies for the great gifts and YES he is dragging his beyblades cross country to play with his cousins in Oregon ;) Alea writes in her journal, draws, puzzle books, and other creative activities. We play car games as a family and listen to a wide variety of music. Alea is having Anissa teach her more sign language. Anissa is the official trip planner, so she is always looking ahead on the atlas, determining the best routes, researching the next location/stop/attraction. Joey is always behind the wheel, not letting Anissa drive a single mile....she tends to gawk at all the scenery and Joey could never relax. He doesn't like to be called the chauffeur, but prefers "captain of the ship" safely guiding us to each destination ;) As long as we keep him outfitted with hummus and plenty of bananas w/ peanut butter, he never gets weary of driving.
