"On the road again, just can't wait to get on the road again..."

After a whirlwind last 6 weeks, we finally hit the road Saturday afternoon! It was literally the first time we were able to catch our breath and (by default) were able to just sit & relax...as relaxed as one can get in a tiny crammed vehicle! 

De ja vu from 2 years ago when we left for a 10 week road trip and Jonas had a blue cast (except it was the opposite arm last time)!

Our trusty driver! Through rain, sleet, hail or snow, the Haywoods must go on! (NOTE: Joey never lets Anissa take a turn with the driving...he says he can't relax if she's behind the wheel. It might have something to do with all the pretty scenery she has to look at. Or it could be because our last 10-week road trip she only drove the car for 3 blocks and got pulled over by a cop for going the wrong way down a one-way street! Enough said).

It's amazing how much you can fit in a Honda Fit!!! As you can see, we literally utilize every inch of space! After our last Honda Fit got totaled a year ago March (Anissa got rear-ended), we immediately went out and bought another Fit. No question in our minds, this vehicle is the perfect fit for our family vacations! The excellent gas mileage allows us to go on such long trips and the space really does fit our family of four perfectly. Okay I'll stop with the puns now! ;)

This is how we roll! It's definitely not for the faint of heart (or for those with claustrophobia)! 

Just think how jam-packed those covered wagon were when they headed west...they had pots & pans, tools, farming equipment & furniture hanging off the outside of their wagon! We are not traveling west in search of gold, but we are definitely looking forward to a golden time with all the friends & family we will be visiting along the way throughout Canada & Alaska! We are hoping to arrive in Alaska on June 23rd. Stay tuned....
