Anissa first visited her uncle Del's farm (which he cleared & homesteaded in the Yukon) in 1987 when she was Alea's age, then Joey & Anissa visited again in 1997 when they lived in Alaska, and what a treat to be here in 2014 with our own 2 children! This trip was bitter-sweet, however, because her uncle died a year ago and her aunt is moving off the farm at the end of the summer and more than likely dear old Partridge Creek will be sold. So this was probably our last visit to the farm.
Jonas & Alea once again had a blast with their 2nd cousins....
Playing "kick the can", jumping on the trampoline....
Climbing trees, playing in the tree house....
Jump around on the hay bales...
...and (literally) hang from the rafters!
Of course, Jonas got his animal fix....A very special, sacred part of the day was burying Uncle Del's ashes by a bush that he had planted from seed. Anissa had not been able to goto the funeral, so this was very meaningful for her to bring closure, grieve with family, and celebrate his life & legacy!
It was a beautiful day for the sweet, simple ceremony. Her cousin, John, read some scripture & gave a testimony of God's goodness, we prayed & sang a song, hugged & cried and rejoiced in victory over the grave!!! Praising God that our 2 dads are worshipping their Creator together at the throne in their perfect Heavely bodies! We are all just sojourners passing through this earth in our temporary bodies, leaving our mark, on our way to our Eternal Home!
Soooo thankful for another precious time of reconnecting with family, sharing what God is doing in each other's lives, encouraging one another and enjoying the sweet fellowship! We were once again blessed with healthy, organic, home-made food: yogurt, butter, bread, jam, fresh greens, rhubarb crisp, fresh raw milk and even grilled bison!! Joey's been enjoying the real, FRESH cream for his coffee at Anissa's cousins' houses...skimmed right off the top of the milk jug!
