After driving through miles of boring flat land in Canada, we finally reached the beginning of the Alaska Hwy! Feels "official" now....even though we are still in Canada for a few more days, we are actually getting closer to Alaska!!! We have some precious stops visiting family to look forward to before we cross the border, though!
Over 10,000 American soldiers & civilian engineers built this historic hwy in a record 8 mths back in 1942...battling the elements and adverse conditions, working 16 hr days 7 days a week! A huge thank you to many of them who lost their lives to build this road we are privileged to drive on!!!
