Rendezvous Peak

Our 3rd hike in 3 days!
We never get tired of the breathtaking views!!!
Snowball fight!
Went down a different route to maximize the scenery!!

Church Family Reunion

Prince of Peace Mennonite Church (where we were intricately involved during our 5 years in Anchorage) had a wonderful 25 year Anniversary celebration this weekend. It was an emotional weekend for us! So good to reminisce, connect with old friends, worship at our old church, etc. When we lived here our church WAS our family!! Those 5 years held a lot of spiritual growth, precious memories, fun times and special relationships. Prince of Peace will always hold a special place in our hearts!!!
There's definitely a lot more kids than when we attended....we were all a bunch of young couples w/o kids and the pastor & his wife were like our parents.
Some of the families from the 5 years we lived there (dear friends for life)!
We walked to Thunderbird Falls as a group.
*matching* ;)
We got to celebrate one of our good friend's bdays! What a treat to be together with our old gang!
Our dear, dear pastor & wife who started the church 25 years ago (flew up from Michigan where they retired). They have been such a source of love, support & encouragement to so many of us through the years!
The current pastor, who actually went to Goshen College with us! It's awesome to see how God has richly blessed our little Mennonite Church all this time and how it has been a safe haven, a roadhouse, a place of growth & source of community for so many like ourselves, spending part of their life journey in the beautiful state of Alaska!

Hike up Flattop

One of the most popular hikes in Anchorage!
View from the bottom (you can see how it gets it's name):
Views from the top:
Mount Susitna (aka "sleeping lady"):
We went around the back side of the mtn to avoid the crowd coming up the front. On the way up:

On the way back down:
"We were just up there!"
So excited to finally be taking the kids on all our favorite hikes!
